(Low Carbon Fuels Coalition) The Low Carbon Fuels Coalition (LCFC) is pleased to announce that the California State Senate and Assembly have approved a pair of ground-breaking climate bills (SB 32 and AB 197). Governor Brown has pledged to sign these bills and commended the bills’ authors and supporters.
Kudos to the foresight and great work of Senator Fran Pavley, Assembly Member Eduardo Garcia, their respective staffs, and the resourceful coalition of trade associations, NGO’s, and low carbon businesses that won this crucial battle in the fight against climate change.
SB 32 requires the state board to ensure that statewide greenhouse gas emissions are reduced to 40% below 1990 levels by 2030. AB 197 fortifies legislative oversight, and mandates transparency and accountability for California’s climate policies. The bills contained absolutely no compromise of California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS).
